Coronary angiogram

 Coronary angiogram

A coronary angiogram is a procedure that uses X-ray imaging  with a special Dye (contrast) to see your flow of blood in heart's  arteries. The purpose of this procedure is to see if the coronary arteries are narrowed or blocked and to look for abnormalities of heart muscle or heart valves.

Another term for coronary angiogram is cardiac catheterization. Cardiac catheterization procedures can both diagnose and treat heart and blood vessel conditions.

During a coronary angiogram, A special x-ray sensitive dye (contrast) is injected and dynamic x-rays are taken of the blood vessels as the contrast moves through them.. The X-ray machine takes a series of images (angiograms), offering a multiple images of heart and blood flow through arteries s. Angiogram helps your physician determine the source of the problem and the extent of damage to the blood vessel segments that are being examined.
